Additional Details

Orville Wright is seen at the controls of the plane, with Wilbur running alongside. This was their first powered, controlled and sustained flight; Daniels photographed all 4 flights made that day. Orville pre-set the camera and Daniels (who had never operated a camera before that day) snapped the now famous image, almost forgetting to squeeze the shutter in the excitement of seeing the plane lift off the ground.
